Make something look simple and elegant and you
set the expectation
Design and Print
We all like beautiful things. I create communication by design - aesthetically pleasing documents, brochures, stationery and magazines for organisations and community groups.
- I believe that all printed material should be enjoyable to look at and to read
- There is no need to clutter a document or use confusing styles
- Colours and style should be appropriate to the business or situation
Beautiful things
Consider three pieces of printed material containing the exact same information. One is high gloss, all the colours of the rainbow and a tad anarchic. One is a plain white sheet of text. The last is subtly designed, has relevant illustrative imagery and the information arranged in a logical way. Which do you choose for your business?
A simple choice really but a lot of corporate information is communicated so poorly that the readers, users and managers fail to understand it. Internally that's a disaster; externally (in marketing brochures for example)and it impacts the impression given to your potential customers.
I have taken the time to develop my skills in design work, primarily for business communication, so that information can be transferred as quickly as possible within a business. When it is well designed it is more effective and the response in the user is more pronounced.
My skills in design now extend to -
- Corporate documentation; internal and external
- Business stationery and branding
- Logo design
- Advertising
- Magazine and brochures
- Wed development
- Internal CMS development
A good design enhances your communication ability.
Web Design
There was no getting away from it - the interweb is now all powerful. The vast majority of businesses now have some form of web presence, some bad and some good. A lot of organisations also have intranets, those internal interwebby things. In both cases they are intended to communicate with people, which is where I neatly fit in.
You know when you've hit upon a 'good' website, you just instictively see and use it and think, 'blimey that's simple', and that's their genious. Making it look effortless while being fantastic. Implemented well, and in a business environment they can make your life much easier through improved communication.
Whether internal content management systems (CMS), intranets or regular Customer facing web sites are your requirement, I can help you.
